Additional Requirements

Work Experience

MBA programs are known to scrutinize applicants' work experience when deciding if they are a good fit. This has become so common that many schools virtually insist applicants have a year or two of work experience post-college before applying.

Prerequisite Courses

While most MBA programs do not require particular courses, some do; often courses falling under economics, statistics and mathematics.

What undergraduate degrees do MBA students typically hold?

  • Business Administration
  • Accounting
  • Economics
  • Political Science
  • Mathematics

What can I do to better my chances of getting into an MBA program?

  • Work an internship under the supervision of an established MBA, be it in a small business or corporate setting
  • Pursue community-building and volunteering initiatives. This shows admissions officers you have a sense of giving back and staying grounded.
  • Make a point of working in different disciplines or across departments in a given company. Such work experience shows a willingness to wear different hats and an appreciation for how the “big picture” is made.
